The Clamoring Camps: How to Navigate the PC vs. Mac Debate

Perhaps the most epic debate in the computer world is which kind of computer is better to have: a PC or a MAC. Ardent supporters in both camps argue vigorously for their side, and those people looking for new computer are often left bereft in the barrage of points. Here are, without the overwhelming passion of the two camps, a couple of points to remember about the PC and the MAC.

MAC: The Cool Kid’s Computer
MACs definitely have cool points going for them. There are swarms of college students with MACs, plastered with bumper stickers for every opinion that’s ever crossed their mind. MACs make a statement as plainly as the bumper stickers: I am edgy and I am cool.

More practically, a MAC often has more flexibility when it comes to using design programs. If you’re going to be using any design programs, a MAC is a better bet for your new computer.

PC: The Steady Standby
Despite all of MAC fans’ grumblings, PCs are still the more prevalent computer. You are more likely to see them in an average school computer lab or library. If you grew up using PCs like most students, you are more likely to be familiar with the quirks of the program. If you don’t feel like learning a new system, and you don’t need any of the MACs flashy capabilities, feel free to stick with what you know.

When it comes down to it, you will have to ignore the clamoring camps of computer enthusiasts, and look at which computer is right for you. As long as you are happy with your decision, the ardent supporters can quiet their clamor and let you enjoy your new computer.
